Prison Law

In Jail?

Use our experience in prison law to help you navigate the complex rules and regulations of the prison system.

Representation:

We can attend many different types of prison law hearings to speak on your behalf in order to maximise the best possible result for you.

Family member in prison:

If you think your relative needs our advice, then contact us and we will endeavour to visit him/her as soon as possible.

Nationwide service:

We regularly visit clients in prisons across the country.

Cost:

Most prison law cases are eligible for public funding and therefore at no cost to you. We will always undertake an evaluation of whether you qualify for public funding at an early stage.

Breadth of knowledge

We have experience in all the major areas of prison law including:

  • Adjudications – been charged with an offence against prison discipline? Our knowledge of the rules and regulations the prison must abide by is second to none. We have several prison law advocates available to speak on your behalf.
  • Parole Board Oral Hearings – we can provide representation for you and put your case for release forward to the Board.
  • Recall appeals – if you have been recalled back into custody whilst on licence in the community, you have a right to appeal this decision and seek re-release.
  • HDC release – we regularly and successfully petition prisons to obtain early release on tag for our clients.
  • Recategorisation applications –you are entitled to regular reviews of your category status and you may also be eligible for open conditions.
  • Lifers/ IPP sentenced prisoners – this complex and specialised area of prison law requires a committed attitude to sentence progression and the nurturing of long term relationships with our clients.
  • ROTL applications – many prisoners are eligible for release on temporary licence for work placements and home leaves.
  • Remission – if you have had additional days added to your custodial sentence as a result of adjudication charges, you are entitled to claim some of these back after a period of good behaviour. Let us use our skills to get the highest possible award.
